Rebecca Sevier Waddell was the sixth child of John and Sarah Jane Sevier and was raised in Washington County, Tennessee.  Prior to marrying, she helped her father as he readied for war by assisting with food and clothing preparations. She also even begged for, and received, gunpowder for her father and his men.

Rebecca Sevier married John Waddell, Jr., at the age of 18. Although she was deceased by age 24, she did give birth to two children; a daughter Sarah Rebecca Waddell, and a son John Sevier Waddell. ​
